Itinerary

Day 1 – 21 May : Arrival

Depart Malta on a direct flight to Reykjavil at 17.25hrs and arrive 21.10hrs. transfer to hotel

Day 2 – 22 May: Golden Circle

Golden Circle: Þingvellir - Gullfoss - Geysir
Taking you to the UNESCO world heritage site Þingvellir National Park and Rift Valley where the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates drift apart and the vikings held their High Counsel Althingi in the middle of a lava field. Then visiting the Geysir Hot Spring area, a geothermal site with Europe's only erupting geyser Strokkur, which erupts every 8-10 minutes spouting steaming hot water jets towards the sky. Then on to the absolutely beautiful waterfall Gullfoss, Iceland's biggest two-stepped waterfall situated in the glacial Hvítá river flowing from the massive Langjökull Glacier

Day 3 - 23.May: North Iceland

North Iceland: Kolugljúfur - Skagafjörður - Glaumbær Folk Museum- Akureyri
Embarking on a drive to Akureyri offers a stunning journey through Iceland's breath-taking landscapes. After crossing Holtavörðurheiði Mountain Pass we stop at Kó-lugljúfur Canyon- a hidden gem in the North. As we drive to the charming northern town of Akureyri, the route winds along the picturesque Eyjafjörður fjord, where steep mountains rise dramatically from the water's edge. This drive promises unforgettable scenery and a true taste of Iceland's natural beauty. Cross the Skagafjörður area, know to be the center of breeding of the Icelandic Horse. Stop at Glaumbær Folk Mu-seum: Get to know about the history of Iceland and the North by visiting historical Turf Houses that have been conserved and reworked but originated in the 18th centu-ry.

Day 4 - 24.May: Goðafoss & Mývatn

After we´ve left Akureyri we stop at Goðafoss, a magnificent waterfall on the way.
Lake Mývatn, located in northern Iceland, is a stunning natural wonder renowned for its unique geological formations and vibrant ecosystems. Surrounded by dramatic vol-canic landscapes, the lake is dotted with lush islands and rich vegetation, making it a haven for birdwatchers, particularly during the summer months when migratory birds flock to the area.
Visitors can explore the surreal pseudocraters at Skútustaðagígar, hike the trails around the lake, or soak in the rejuvenating waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths, often less crowded than the Blue Lagoon. Nearby, the geothermal area of Hverir offers bub-bling mud pots and steaming fumaroles, showcasing the region's volcanic activity.
Dimmuborgir, the home of the Icelandic Yule Lads for a short hike. We keep travelling East via Möðrudalur - a volcanic wasteland highlighting the stark contrasts that define the nature of Iceland.

Day 5 - 25.May: East Fjords & Glacier Lagoon

Breiðdalsvík - Djúpivogur & Eggin í Gledivík - Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach
Enjoy a scenic drive along the impressive Fjords of the East, visiting Breiðdalsvík and Djúpivogur - typical Icelandic Fishing towns. In the later you´ll also find the out-door artwork "Eggin í Gleðivík" (The Eggs of Happy Bay) that represent the native birds nesting in the East. After crossing the Fjords we keep driving west again to-wards the magnificent Glacier Lagoon. Check out the Diamond Beach at the mouth of the short glacial river where crumbling bits of transparent ice sparkle in the black volcanic sand.

Day 6 - 26.May: South Coast

The South Shore Adventureis a unique day tour taking you around active volcanoes, in sight of massive glaciers, to beautiful waterfalls and through black sands Go through some of the most scenic areas on the south coast of Iceland, including the , Skaftafell National Park and Öræfajökull, with Iceland´s highest mountain Hvannadalshnúkur. T. Visiting Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Skógafoss waterfall in the foothills of the great and infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano and moving east through the volcanic sands that dominate large portions of the South Coast of Iceland. The tour goes along the Ring Road next to Mýrdalsjökull glacier and on clear days it is possible to see the ice caps and outlet glaciers of both Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. The tour goes as far east as the scenic village of Vík with its black sand beach and busy bird cliffs. Reynisfjara beach is the southernmost tip of Iceland and going straight out from there the next solid ground

you hit is Antarctica around ten thousand miles to the south. There are also the rock formations of Reynisdrangar rising from the sea and basalt columns in the hillside next to the beach providing an amazing background.

Day 7 - 27.May: Drive back to Reykjavík & City Tour

Drive to Reykjavík & City Tour: Hallgrímskirkja - Alþingi, City Hall, Fríkirkja - Harbour Area: Harpa, Old Harbour, Sun Voyager, Höfði House
Set off on a sightseeing tour around Reykjavik, which is a city full of life and culture. While on your tour, see the vibrant city centre, wonderful monuments and the popular waterfront area that offers amazing view of Mt. Esja. Stop to visit Hallgrimskirkja Church, a tall and modern tribute in design to the natural wonders known as the Black Falls. There is also a statue of Leifur Eiriksson, the famed Icelandic explorer.

Day 8 - 28.May: Departure

End of tour - Transfer to Airport – flight depart 09.00hrs and arrive Malta at 16.25hrs
