Itinerary:

Day 1- 5th July | Meet your group leader at Malta airport at 07.30am to check in for your connection flight to Istanbul with Turkish airlines, on arrival at 14.00hrs stay transit for your next flight to Mongolia which departs at 18.10hrs and arrives at 07.15hrs next morning

Day 2- 6th July | Ulaanbaatar Arrive at Chinggis Khan International Airport. Private transfer to your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Take in the sights on a short tour around Ulaanbaatar’s main square to discover a brief history of this fascinating country. Distance Meals 70 km -Accommodation 4* hotel twin room

Day 3- 7th July | Terelj National Park Leave the city and see the wide open steppe appear before you. In Terelj National Park you will be immersed in stunning landscapes and interesting rock formations. This landscape is similar to the Northern Mongolian “Taiga” and is rich in flora and fauna. Enjoy a horse ride deeper into the wilds of the taiga like terrain. Hike up to the Aryabal Meditation Temple for a stunning panoramic view of the national park. Day 4- 8th July | 13th Century Camp Stop off at the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue. Learn about Mongolia’s fierce hero and the legacy he left behind. Go to the top of the 40m equestrian statue for photo opportunities. Travel back in time to a fascinating live museum, where 13th century warriors on horseback guard the gates. The sprawling museum offers the experience of being in the 13th century during the height of Chinngis Khan’s empire. Visit the different camps including the herders camp, craft camp, shaman camp and kings camp to learn about everyday life during the reign of Chinggis Khan. Day 5- 9th July | Rafting on Tuul river Ger camp twin ensuite ger Enjoy the beautiful summer weather with a bit of a rafting adventure on the bountiful river Tuul. Journey along the lazy river that meanders through the mountain valleys. See herders and their livestock grazing nearby and wave to fascinated locals who won’t believe their eyes. BBQ lunch on the bank of the river, before travelling further downstream, ending near the quiet village of Gachuurt. Transfer through Ulaanbaatar, and travel west crossing the open steppe to the location of the annual summer festival, Naadam. This area is filled with horse trainers waiting to compete in the national horse races tomorrow. Optional Tandem Paragliding today if weather allows. Day 6- 10th July | Naadam horse race Ger camp twin ensuite ger After breakfast, transfer to Hui Doloon Hudag, the famous Naadam horse racing valley. The horse races usually start the day before the official festival. Horses are grouped and raced by age, ridden by young jockeys and trained by experienced handlers. Today is the race for 3-year-old horses. Soak up the atmosphere and cheer as you watch the winner cross the finish line. Stay till the end to hear a special song to welcome the final horse across the finish line. Many fascinating traditions surround the Naadam horse races. Your guide will explain the many weird and wonderful activities. Make sure to try traditional festival food and drink such as “huushuur” and “airag”. Return to Ulaanbaatar in the late afternoon. The city will be in full festival mode. You’ll see many people wearing traditional clothes known as “deel”. There

Day 7- 11th July | Naadam Opening Ceremony in Ulaanbaatar Attend the Naadam festival opening ceremony in the central stadium. You’ll see an impressive parade of monks and athletes, hear plenty of music, and witness an array of colourful costumes and amazing horses in fancy costumes. Watch the first round of the Mongolian wrestling, which is the most interesting and photogenic event. Follow up by visiting the archery to see both men and women skilled at the sport use their recurve bows to knock down targets. You’ll also have a chance to see the ankle-bone shooting tournament, a

Day 8- 12th July | Tsagaan Suvarga Depart for the Middle Gobi in the early morning, heading towards the stunning Tsagaan Suvarga natural rock formation. Enjoy lunch outdoors in the vast steppe and some hiking on the way. See the landscape change as you near the impressive Tsagaan Suvarga, or "white stupa". This magnificent natural rock formation is an unusual canyon that looks just like a ruined city from a distance. The rainbow striped sedimentary rock, with a sheer 60m cliff face, lights up beautifully in the evening sun. Distance 450km Meals Accommodation B, L, D

Day 9- 13th July | Yolin Am (Eagle Gorge) Gobi caravanserai resort twin room Drive to the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range and the Yolin Am National Park, known as Eagle Gorge. This surprisingly green valley carved by an ancient river, shelters ice formations in the heart of the desert that can still be seen as late as July. A hike through the valley leads to the home of indigenous vulture-like Lammergeiers, Altai snowcocks, ibex, yak, and Argali mountain sheep. Enjoy a visit to the small quirky natural history museum at the entrance to the valley for an overview of the wildlife in this unusual part of the world. Day 10- 14th July | Khongor sand dunes Today you will travel deeper into the south gobi. You’ll pass herds of majestic camels, water wells vital to the survival of life here in the desert, and you may see a shimmering mirage in the distance. Your destination is the towering singing sand dunes where you can attempt to climb the rolling dunes, measuring around 300 metres high. Experience the eerie sound the wind makes as it howls over the dunes while waiting for an amazing gobi sunset. Feel a dramatic sense of place when taking in this cinematic vista while star-gazing in the late evening. Distance Meals Accommodation 130km B, L, D

Day 11- 15th July | Bayanzag (The Flaming Cliffs) Ger camp twin ensuite ger After breakfast optional camel riding or visit a camel herder and learn about their lifestyle. Have an early lunch, before driving back through the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains to Khavtsgait, a site of ancient petroglyphs. Scramble to the top of the site to find the unique petroglyphs and be rewarded with great views over the Gobi plateau. Continue on to visit the Flaming Cliffs, locally known as Bayanzag, a site famous for dinosaur fossils. Hike in the area and explore the sandstone cliffs. Stay to view the spectacular sunset over the red sandstone rocks. You may also have time to visit a saxaul forest, a unique environment found only in the Gobi desert Distance Meals Accommodation 150km off road

Day 12- 16th July | Ongi River B, L, D Ger camp twin ensuite ger Depart early morning and wave goodbye to the South Gobi. Today drive on the main road leaving the desert behind you and back into the green steppe of central Mongolia. Plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and short hikes on the way. Day 13- 17th July | Kharkhorin Today you will enter the Orkhon Valley, known as one of the most picturesque places in central Mongolia. You’ll visit Kharkhorin, the location of the ancient capital city of the Mongol Empire. It is now the site of one of the largest Buddhist Monasteries in Mongolia, Explore Erdene Zuu monastery. You can also see the Three Empires Monument, which gives you a bird’s eye view of the Orkhon valley, where three empires are said to have come together. Distance Meals 300km off road B, L,D

Day 14- 18th July | Ulaanbaatar via Khugno Khan Accommodation Ger camp twin ensuite ger The last day of your trip will see you departing from ancient Kharkhorin, travelling over endless steppe, and returning to modern Ulaanbaatar. On the way you’ll pass many interesting sights, with plenty of chances to stop to explore. Some of the highlights include the Khugno Khan reserve, a fascinating place with fresh water marshland, sand dunes and dramatic mountains. If you make good time, there is an optional visit to Hustai National Park, where the once extinct Przewalski horses now thrive, and are well protected by dedicated rangers. Day 15- 19th July | Today come the end of our tour , check out and transfer to airport - flight depart at 08.45hrs and arrives Istanbul at 13.10hrs ,stay transit and flight to Malta departs Istanbul at 16.45hrs and arrives Malta at 18.20hr
